The rural district of Tervo is situated 55 km southwest of Kuopio. Kuopio Airport lies 70 km away and the nearest railway station in Suonenjoki 50 km away. Tervo can also be reached by bus.

The district of Tervo has numerous clear-watered lakes and offers excellent opportunities for recreational and sports fishing all year round. The Lohimaa Fishing and Tourist Centre is a wonderful round-the-year location equally suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers. Lohimaa offers good catches with various fishing methods, and the rapids of Äyskoski are regarded as one of the best trout rapids in Europe.

You’ll find high-standard holiday cottages as well as restaurants in Tervo, and organised nature activities are also available. Attractions include the brick-built church with an Italian influence, the Kolu Canal – the longest inland canal in Finland – and the sculpture ‘Pine of Tervo’ by Eeva Ryynänen.
