The town of Juankoski is situated 65 km from Kuopio, 50 km from Kuopio Airport and 45 km from the nearest railway station in Siilinjärvi.

A warm welcome awaits visitors to Juankoski, a district of beautiful countryside and extensive lakes with their numerous islands. A recently completed waterway opens up a new connection from the Saimaa lake district via Juankoski and Muuruvesi to the Tahko Holiday Resort in Nilsiä. The former ironworks area provides a glimpse back at local history. The ironworks, founded in the 19th century for the smelting of lake ore, was the first of its kind in Finland. The Masuuni Brunou Museum, located in an old blast furnace, provides an insight into the industrial heritage of the district. Pisa Hill offers a spectacular view over the surrounding countryside. Various music and cultural events are arranged in Juankoski, and many delightful summer events are based on local history.
